What you are buying when you buy Flexform
A factory, not a warehouse
Flexform has upholstered furniture in Meda since 1959, in the Brianza district where most Italian sofas are still put together by hand. Outdoor pieces come from the same benches as the indoor ones.
Wood that is meant to get wet
The outdoor frames are solid iroko, a dense West African hardwood the factory finishes natural, stained grey, stained brown or lacquered white. Seats sit on marine plywood under polyurethane foam and a waterproof laminate.
Names on the drawings
Antonio Citterio has drawn for Flexform since the 1970s and signs most of the outdoor catalogue. Carlo Colombo, Christophe Pillet, Monica Armani and the factory design centre sign the rest.
